Whereas most kids want toys and sweets at Christmas, young Landyn Wadsworth asked if she could have money to buy pet food for the animals living in the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter in Pasco, Washington.
Well, it's fair to say she got it.
The charity later shared a photograph of Landyn being utterly dwarfed by the amount of animal food that she'd managed to get hold of.
In the end, the amount was more than half a tonne. 600lbs, to be more precise.
If you can't imagine what 600lbs worth of dog food and cat food looks like, the pictures in the article will surely have one some way to bringing home the enormity of what this youngster has achieved, and the difference that it is going to make.
The food was donated by those who heard of Landyn's generosity of spirit over the festive period and decided that they wanted to help out as well.
The charity posted on Facebook to say: "Landon's wish for Christmas was food donations for the shelter and it looks like her wish came true!! We are so grateful for your kindness and I'm sure the dogs and cats are too!!"
Obviously, an animal shelter isn't the ideal place for a creature to be, but at least they certainly won't be going hungry any time soon, and it's all thanks to the eight-year-old girl who cared more about them than about herself.
Speaking to local TV channel KEPR, Alisha Wadsworth - Landyn's proud mother - said that she's actually been doing stuff like this since 2016.
That means that this is now her third year of raising money for wee creatures who can't do it themselves.
On Facebook, Alisha wrote: "This little lady made her Christmas wish come true. She donated over 600lbs of quality food to the animal shelter. She wanted the animals taken care of and this will definitely help with that. Merry Christmas."
Most adults don't have that in them, let alone a five-year-old.
It all began when she visited the shelter and became upset at the plight of the poor critters who call it home.
Whilst she couldn't give them all a forever home, she did eventually decide what she could do to help out.
She's already started planning for her 2020 campaign. Let's see how much she can raise this year, given a full 365 day run at it.
By the way, if you want to donate right now, the charity have asked that you don't send any food just now, but you can help in other ways.
They said: "Our food pantry is now full due to the generosity of kind folks like Landyn.
"We are now hoping to raise funds to continue to spay and neuter all pets before they leave the shelter."
