Robbie Williams Met Wife Ayda Field Hours After Sleeping With His Drug Dealer
Robbie Williams has opened up about how he and his wife first met, and let's say it's not the most conventional meet-cute.
Speaking candidly about his relationship with actress Ayda Field, the 45-year-old revealed he met her after sleeping with his drug dealer just a few hours before.
The former Take That singer admitted he had just had a delivery to his Los Angeles home in 2006, when he met his future wife.
Talking to the Mail Online, he said: "My drug dealer had just left, I'd slept with her and she'd left me a bag of drugs."
Fortunately for Robbie, though, Ayda didn't have a clue what had happened or that he even had an addiction problem.
The 40-year-old said she thought Robbie was 'a Dickensian pop star holed up in his mansion' and felt his living situation was 'quite sad'.
After their less than ideal first meeting, the couple started dating, saying they felt an 'electricity' between them.
However, even after their spark, things still didn't quite go as planned, with Robbie 'intermittently dumping' Ayda.
According to the popstar, it was only after he spoke to actor Cameron Diaz about his relationship troubles that he realised Ayda was the one.
He told the Mail: "I bumped into Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore. I started talking about this person I'd just ended a relationship with and was listing all these things about her brilliance when Cameron said, 'I don't think it's over'.
"At that moment the universe spoke to me. I left and went straight to Ayda's house and committed to her."
The couple married in 2010 and have three children together, daughter Theodora, seven, son Charlton, five, and Colette, who is just 15 months old.
Robbie admitted, however, that if he had followed his own advice when he met Ayda all those years ago, things might not have turned out as they have.
Looking back, he said: "I'd decreed, 'Thou will not get married and thou will never have a baby'.
"I don't mean to boast but people were always falling in love with me. I had to finish relationships before they'd even started.
"As soon as I met someone, she wanted to move in with me. So I didn't trust anyone. I'd pined for a relationship for years but when I was around 28 I thought, 'Actually, I'm having a great time being single and I don't want this to stop'."'
